Personal Experience
I first discovered Joyce Manor through tumblr and Pandora. So far I've only listened to the self titled studio album, but I have yet to listen to the other things which I expect to be great. I don't think I'd be able to choose a favorite song. But since I usually do for this blog, I'd have to go with Constant Headache and Beach Community. The lyrics to Constant Headache go like this:
Constant Headache Lyrics
I could hear you coming so I hid by the couch.
You were talking so loudly, I don't know what about.
You were drunker than high school, self-conscious and sweet.
I never ever felt so cool disguised in your sheets.
But I'm a constant headache, a tooth out of line.
They try to make you regret it, you tell them, no not this time.
It's just a constant headache, a dead pet device.
You hang me up, unfinished with the better part of me no longer mine.
And then you finally found me, pretending to sleep.
You said such nice things about me, I felt guilty and cheap.
You took two steps to the kitchen, and just stared at the sink.
I couldn't hold back a smile, I still wish I could have seen you
Having sex in the morning, your love was foreign to me.
It made me think maybe human is not such a bad thing to be.
But I just laid there in protest, entirely fucked.
It's such a stubborn reminder one perfect night's not enough.
It's just a constant headache, a tooth out of line.
They try to make you regret it, you tell them, no not this time.
It's just a constant headache, a dead pet device.
You hang me up, unfinished with the better part of me no longer mine.

And these are the Beach Community Lyrics:
JOYCE MANOR
Beach Community Lyrics
I lost it all in a beach community
Where it was lost is not all that clear to me
Over the sidewalk, into a slow talk
Call the police
Told me I'm in the wrong town
Wait for your cue, 'cause my scene it ain't over
Torch up your house while your kids are at home
What can you do when you're not getting sober?
It's hard to admit but you're always feeling alone
You're always just
A few miles down as the streets count backwards, I realize it's true
Everything reminds me of you
Where it was lost is not all that clear to me
Over the sidewalk, into a slow talk
Call the police
Told me I'm in the wrong town
Wait for your cue, 'cause my scene it ain't over
Torch up your house while your kids are at home
What can you do when you're not getting sober?
It's hard to admit but you're always feeling alone
You're always just
A few miles down as the streets count backwards, I realize it's true
Everything reminds me of you
They're definitely on my list of people to see in concert because they are one of my favorites.
