~City and Colour~

City and Colour is the name of a one man Canadian song - writer, Dallas Green. Dallas Green was the guitarist and vocalist for the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire from 2001-2012. He named this 'band' City and Colour from his name (Dallas, a CITY) and Green, a color. Hence the name City (Dallas) and Colour (Green). He also has various Canadian indie rock musicians travel with him sometimes and play music.

  • Dallas Green - lead vocals, rhythm guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, banjo, harmonica, piano, drums, percussion.
Touring members:
  • Jack Lawrence - bass guitar
  • Doug MacGregor - drums

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
I haven't been listening to City and Colour for a very long amount of time, and I only do like a few song-writer type musicians, but I do LOVE this 'band'. It's just a great mixture of happy and sad songs, and they all sound great. Dallas Green also has a very lovely voice. I wish there was more I could say. I haven't seen him live yet, but I would love to some day if I could.

I haven't seen them in concert yet but they ARE playing Warped Tour this year so I'm going to try and see them when they're there.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

I didn't find out about Balance and Composure until I started listening to Tigers Jaw a little over a year ago when I first listened to the Balance and Composure/Tigers Jaw split EP. And I didn't REALLY get into them until semi-recently, and I'm not sure as to why. Like I've listened to them here and there but recently it's been more than usual. But I really like Jon's vocals and how they sound along with how the band sounds in general, and the lyrics. There's not a lot I can write about Balance and Composure because I haven't experienced them a lot yet.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

I haven't listened to a lot of other Fugazi besides the 13 songs album. I intend to download them though, and I've been meaning to. But the 13 songs album is a compilation of songs from different albums/EP's that they've put out. I first got into Fugazi about three years ago when my mom showed them to me. My mom likes them a lot and a lot of other punk music as well, and so she's known about Fugazi for a long time. 13 songs is an amazing album and I do recommend it to anyone who likes this kind of music. I will link you to the songs.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
I've never been able to see MCR in concert and I won't be able to now which makes me infinite amounts of sad because I LOVE this band. I listen to them a lot when I'm sad (which is a lot as well) and I love the band members as well. I didn't really start getting 'into' this band until about a year and a half ago. But once I did find them I fell in love. I love the lyrics, Gerard's voice, their sound. They were on my list of bands to see in concert one day but I won't be able to now and it actually made me cry when they broke up. Since I can't choose a favorite song (much  like all the other hundreds of bands I listen to) I will just link you to their music videos.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
Iwrestledabearonce isn't something I personally listen to when I'm feeling sad, so I can't say that they've 'helped me' through things, but they have been one of my favorite bands for a few years now. I had known about them for a long time but had never listened to them until my boyfriend suggested it (they are also one of his favorite bands). So I decided that I should, and I fell in love instantly. I actually got to see them live at the All Stars Tour in August 2013 with one of my best friends, Candra. While I was in line to get a tee shirt I actually got to meet the new singer/screamer, Courtney LaPlante (she replaced Krysta Cameron because she became pregnant), and I got a signed poster from her. And I actually talk to Mikey Montgomery and Mike Rickshaw Martin sometimes on Facebook, which is amazing and I think it's rad that they talk to their fans.
